Stender Announces Funding for Pipeline Project in Rush Township

July 21, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Michael Stender (R-Montour/Northumberland) announced today that $1.5 million was awarded to Boyd Station LLC to extend natural gas services. This project will construct 9,000 linear feet of natural gas pipeline in Rush Township.

This funding comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Pipeline Investment Program (PIPE). Funds that are awarded through PIPE may be used for acquisition, construction and site preparation costs associated with extending natural gas pipelines to serve eligible applicants.

“This is a major investment in Rush Township that will bring new jobs and reliable energy to the community,” said Stender. “This project will allow Boyd Station, which already employes 90 residents, to add an additional 25 jobs by changing from propane to natural gas. In addition, residents along the route will have access to the natural gas in this pipeline, providing them with cheaper electric bills and more reliable heating for their homes.”

PIPE provides grants to construct the last few miles of natural gas distribution lines to business parks, existing manufacturing and industrial enterprises, which will result in the creation of new economic base jobs in the Commonwealth while providing access to natural gas for residents.
