HARRISBURG – Rep. Michael Stender (R-Northumberland/Montour) and Sen. Lynda Culver (R- Montour/Northumberland/Snyder) today announced the approval of more than $1.2 million in state grant funding to support infrastructure improvements across Northumberland and Montour counties.

“These are smart, local investments that improve roads, water systems and public safety,” said Stender. “They address real needs in our communities and help us build stronger, safer infrastructure while reducing the burden on local taxpayers.”

Multimodal Transportation Fund Awards:

Lewis Township (Northumberland County) – $218,875 to support reconstruction along Old State Road, improving long-term road safety and reliability for area drivers.
Mahoning Township (Montour County) – $445,700 to install a new box culvert on Academy Avenue, addressing stormwater and road stability concerns.
SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority (Montour County) – $404,818 to replace and rehabilitate a deteriorating railroad crossing on Route 54 in Danville Borough, improving safety for motorists and freight movement.

Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) Grant Awards:

Municipal Authority of the City of Sunbury – $162,000 for ultraviolet system upgrades at the water treatment plant, helping to maintain reliable and safe service for local customers.
Washingtonville Municipal Authority – $397,375 for a sewer extension project along Routes 54 and 254, improving wastewater infrastructure in Montour County.

“These projects are a great example of what happens when local officials, community partners and the General Assembly work together to prioritize infrastructure,” Stender added. “I will continue to advocate for targeted investments like these that bring real value to our region.”

“This funding will support transportation and water infrastructure projects across the district,” Culver said. “By advancing projects that improve infrastructure and connectivity, we can support safe, reliable services that residents depend on. I value the collaboration with my House colleagues as we take the next step in this process of building a stronger Commonwealth.”
