HARRISBURG – Rep. Michael Stender (R-Northumberland/Montour) and Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Columbia/Luzerne/Montour/Northumberland/Snyder) today announced more than $900,000 in Multimodal Transportation Funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

The projects include:
• Borough of Turbotville - $217,442 for sidewalk replacements along Paradise Street.
• Montandon Development Group LLC - $514,015 for the construction of turning lanes and the installation of a traffic signal along the State Route 45 corridor in West Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County.
• Northumberland Montour Joint Airport Authority - $241,970 for improvements to the Danville airport.

“I’m pleased to see funding support for our local road and airport projects, emphasizing job creation and public safety improvement,” said Stender.

“These state grant dollars will help pay to repair and pave these three roads without further burdening local taxpayers,” Culver said. “This is an example of state government providing financial resources to fund important projects in our local communities.”

Grant awards are based on such criteria as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency and operational sustainability.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.
