Stender Announces More Than $2.7 Million in State Funding for 108th District

HARRISBURG – Advocating for improvement projects in the 108th Legislative District, State Rep. Michael Stender (R-Montour/Northumberland) announced today more than $2.7 million in state grant funding for local communities and school districts.
The grant awards are as follows:
• Danville Municipal Authority - $350,000 to replace a water main.
• Lewis Township - $209,068 for the Old State Road bridge replacement project.
• Mahoning Township - $95,929 to purchase police cameras.
• Milton Area School District - $800,000 for the replacement of Milton Middle School’s HVAC system.
• Milton Borough - $100,000 to purchase new public works equipment.
• Montour County - $113,544 for upgrades to the Main Fair Community building located in Limestone Township.
• Montour County - $200,000 for an HVAC renovation project at the Danville Area Community Cetner.
• Riverside Borough - $250,000 for the replacement of the existing small diameter sanitary sewers.
• Shikellamy School District - $400,000 for a roof replacement project at Oaklyn Elementary School.
• Sunbury City - $225,000 for repairs to the existing Department of Public Works maintenance and storage.
• Sunbury City Municipal Authority - $400,000 for improvements to the Sunbury flood control system.
• Warrior Run School District - $100,000 for a safety upgrades project at Warrior Run Junior/Senior High School.
• Watsontown Borough - $268,988 to purchase emergency responder radios for Warrior Run Consolidated Fire Service Cooperative.
“I am incredibly grateful to see these grant dollars coming back to our community,” said Stender. “Improvements are essential for our communities to continue flourishing, but they often come at a cost. This funding will significantly reduce that burden without placing it on the shoulders of our taxpayers, allowing us to grow and improve while protecting those we serve.”
The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
