Stender to Host Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Event
NORTHUMBERLAND – State Rep. Michael Stender (R-Northumberland/Montour) invites municipal leaders, fire chiefs and EMS administrators who are interested to learn about the best practices in attracting and retaining volunteer fire and EMS members to his Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention seminar.
The seminar will take place on Monday, Dec. 11, from 6-8:30 p.m., at Northumberland Borough Hall, 175 Orange St., Northumberland.
“As a career and volunteer firefighter, I encourage anyone who has an interest or is curious about volunteering with their local fire service organizations to attend,” said Stender. “This seminar will serve as an opportunity to ask questions, learn about local fire departments and engage with experienced firefighters.”
The seminar will include a presentation by Jerry Ozog, executive director of the PA Fire and Emergency Services Institute, and it will provide a basic overview of modern recruitment and retention for fire service organizations.
“A firefighter’s purpose is to ensure the safety of not only our own but of others’ loved ones in emergency situations. If anyone shares that same purpose, I strongly encourage you to register for this event,” said Stender.
To register, call 570-286-5885 or visit Stender’s website at
